Brat summer inspired me to get off the healing hamster wheel and make a fucking mess. And it was glorious, lol! And still is, tbh! And the fact that there’s overlap between the use of the word ‘brat’ in both the Charlie XCX album and the dolls is not a coincidence because they both champion a lot of the same things.Bratz dolls exude a bold, confident, and fashion-forward vibe. They're all about attitude, individuality, and self-expression. The Bratz vibe is an unfiltered, unapologetic blend of fierce fashion, fierce attitudes, and a celebration of individuality. They represent empowerment through style, friendship, and the confidence to break free from societal norms. Their legacy endures because they’re more than just dolls—they’re a cultural statement. They’re a symbol of the idea that it's not just about fitting in, but about standing out and making your own mark on the world.
Likewise, Charli XCX’s "Brat" album carries a similarly bold and unapologetic energy to Bratz dolls and is a sonic and emotional exploration of empowerment, rebellion, and self-discovery.
The vibe of Brat is fierce, liberated, and distinctly boundary-pushing—exactly like its namesake dolls.
They both celebrate excess (and as a Taurus stellium, that really speaks to me lol) and are all about refusing to be constrained by any one category.
However, while Bratz dolls focus on individuality, they also emphasize the importance of sisterhood and friendship, which is what I’m here to facilitate through this membership.

Barbie & Bratz
Two Icons, Same Cultural Impact
Despite their distinct personalities, these dolls are always there for one another. There’s a strong sense of loyalty among the Bratz girlies, and this bond forms a key part of their identity. They support each other’s passions, help each other out of tough spots, and share moments of fun and mischief. Their dynamic showcases diverse personalities coming together, and in doing so, they set a standard for how women can empower and elevate each other, rather than view each other as competition the way the patriarchy has conditioned us to do. Bratz are about embracing differences, supporting friends, and staying true to yourself in any group. The dolls are also seen as aspirational because they’re always "on the go," attending concerts, runway shows, running their businesses or hanging out at cafes in. All while flaunting iconic looks! Duh!
Their style and attitude made them one of the most iconic toy lines of their era, and they were often seen as the “cool” alternative to Barbie.
But don’t get it twisted! This is no shade to Barbie! Barbie was also an independent woman but had versions of her that were indeed more domestic. And of course, there was Ken. Lol.
In fact, another major inspiration for It Girl was a quote from the intro of the Barbie movie when the narrator says:

but Besties
“Since the beginning of time, since the first little girl ever existed, there has been the dolls.
But the dolls were always and forever baby dolls and the girls who played with them could only ever play at being mothers. Which can be fun, at least for a while anyway. Ask your mother.

This quote completely supports the vibe of It Girl which is that EVERYONE is an It Girl, and It Girls are limitless.
Just like Barbie and just like the Bratz.
Side note/tangent here but when the Barbie movie came out I *hated* the competitive dialogue that emerged with some girls choosing “sides” between identifying as a Barbie or a Brat. Like!!! You’re missing the whole point lol!
